Bessmer Industries LLC is an independent research and design company founded in Philadelphia, Delaware-based, and focused on frontier science, alternative renewable energy designs, and legacy technologies.
Our work bridges three domains:
Frontier Science — Currently developing falsifiable cosmological models, studying weak gravitational lensing, and proposing measurable alternatives to dark matter and dark energy.
Alternative Renewable Energy Designs -- Retrofitting gas wells with geothermal power plants - Bessmer Industries can guide you through the process. Developing a cylindrical, portable, sinkhole proof, Rankine cycle engine to harness the heat energy of the underground coal fire of Centralia, PA Bessmer Industries will make your investment at the cutting edge of brilliant.
Legacy Futures — creating long-term remembrance technologies, notably posthuman Rosetta stones and keepsakes from you and your loved ones, engineered for geological timescales to share human knowledge with the next sentient things to walk this planet... Drawing an interdisciplinary suite of experts, let us tell the future about you and yours by placing nearly-unweatherable keepsakes in the locations ideally located for excavation at multiple geological timescales. A canticle for leibowitz meets the instructions on how to access our technology culture and ideas...should the world as we know it as humans become inhospitable to our continued existence. A way to pass the torch.
Our mission: practical imagination — building ideas that can be tested, remembered, and carried forward.
Highlights of research, design, and recognition that inform our current projects.
Offshore Geothermal Retrofit Feasibility 2016
A feasibility study on converting decommissioned Gulf of Mexico oil platforms into geothermal energy plants. The project evaluated geological suitability, technology transfer from oil & gas to geothermal, and levelized cost of energy modeling. Results highlight a pathway to transform stranded fossil fuel infrastructure into long-term sources of renewable power.
Kittyhawk Wind Area Analysis 2015
A 500 MW offshore wind energy proposal for the northern coast of North Carolina. The project assessed wind resources, seabed geology, wave energy, wildlife impacts, and transmission feasibility to determine the viability of large-scale renewable power in the Mid-Atlantic. Results showed that with proper siting and environmental safeguards, Kittyhawk could deliver utility-scale clean energy at competitive costs while supporting state renewable portfolio goals.
Potato-Sack Cosmology
Potato Sack Cosmology reframes four of physics’ biggest puzzles — dark matter, dark energy, matter–antimatter asymmetry, and cosmic expansion anomalies — as evidence of a single underlying phenomenon: the tension of a cosmic “sack.” Instead of invoking separate unseen forces, PSC shows how the dents, bulges, and stretches of this boundary can explain them all at once, yielding testable predictions that future lensing and expansion data can confirm or overturn.
Where others see obstacles, we see horizons.
